Smartwatch Wearable

Garmin has released the first beta update for the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E smartwatches. These wearables were released in January, with the Instinct 3 succeeding the Instinct 2 and the Instinct E launching as a cheaper option. Now, beta version 9.07 brings a range of new features and bug fixes to users signed up for the testing program.

All versions of the Instinct 3 smartwatch support the recently announced Garmin Connect+ subscriptions, as well as a passcode lock for additional security. There is also a wider range of locations now available for the Weather glance, and Breathing Variations have been added. On top of this, an issue where the watch could freeze when users viewed their daily summary.

For the Instinct 3 Solar and the Instinct E, users can now get Daily Suggested Workouts in the Workouts app. Plus, Garmin has tackled issues with GPS activities, the heart rate glance and estimated remaining battery levels. For users of the Instinct 3 Solar and the Instinct 3 AMOLED, there is a new Rucking activity and support for Pack Weight. Another addition is animations for the Morning Report start page, though these are only for the Instinct 3 AMOLED (45mm black version curr. $449.99 at Amazon). A full change log can be found below.

According to a recent post in the Garmin forum, beta software version 9.07 is rolling out over the air (OTA), received by Instinct 3 smartwatches via Bluetooth and Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express. If you wish to sign up for the Garmin beta program, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
